The following started yesterday on my way to work:
2001 F-250 PSD 7.3 AUTO 4x4
- Truck started normally as usual
- On the way to work, I turned on the headlights. Within a few minutes I started to notice that the cd player was cutting out or reseting once in a while. I dind't think anything of it because I thought it was the shock from the road.
- I arrived to work and parked it the whole day. After work I put the key into the ignition and turned it to the on position waiting for the "waiting" light to go out....no power....nothing....there was no power to anything....
- By accident, I turn the head light switch to "On". At that point I was able to start the vehicle.
Today, while driving to work I turned on the head lights and all the power went out. I had to pull over. I couldn't started the vehicle again. Playing with the headlight switch didn't work either.
- I then tried disconnecting the batteries and reconnecting it. It worked!
- But I noticed that there is no power to the odbc II. I connected the diablo to the port but there was no power.
- I think the truck will start because I turned the key to on position and the wait light came on....so I'm sure it can start....
do you guys know what is going on with my electroncs?
Sounds like a clasic case of backfeed to me. I'd say you have a problem in you power feed to the computer or related system. When the headlights were on, the headlight circuit was able to supply the power needed - for a while. Now the headlight circuit it'self has most likely failed (fuse, I hope) so no longer can supply the juice to the system.
