Hey fella's I could use some help. I lost my turn signals yesterday. I had them when I drove the truck in the am, left for a party in the pm and had nothing, left or right. I checked my fuse panel this am, and found a burnt 20A mini fuse in position #6 labeled "trailer tow turn/stop relay". I replaced this fuse and I still have nothing. I can't seem to locate the flasher. Is it in the steering column? Could it be the relay? My 4 way flashers work fine as do my parking lights, just no signals.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the info guys. No, Rich I haven't towed for a while. That's what struck me as odd. I'm going to check out this relay and see what the harness looks like for the trailer wiring. Any other suggestions?
metalman1320: I use my tilt wheel every time I get in or out of my 02. The harness inside of the column was too tight, and eventually led to the turn signals failing. All I did was remove the plastic over the column and reconnect the harness, (the actual pins puled from the connector), and re-located a cable tie, to provide a little extra slack. The problem has never returned. I can't say that this will fix yours, but, it is worth a look.
Yes Dave, the shell around the column will come apart like a clam shell. The screws are #20 (T20) torx, I think, not phillips head. If I remember correctly, there were 3 screws. (I really don't recall, and the truck is at home) Anyway, just be carefull not to crack the cover, or tear the boot over the shift select lever, (if you drive an auto). My harness ran accross the top of the column, and came undone when I would tilt the wheel all the way down. Hopefully you will find something similar, and get er fixed.
Has it blown the fuse after you replaced it?
Have you tried pulling up slightly on the multifunction sw on the colum.
I had one that had a bad sw that would work if I slightly pulled up on it.
Thanks, 75F350, I'm going to check my column. I haven't pulled the new fuse out Rich, but I'll check and let you guys know. I'll also try wiggling that switch. Thanks again for your all your help.
