EXT Temp Gauge Reading

Have a 2006 F250 6.0. The ext temp reads aprox 70 deg. all the time,It is 95-100 here everyday right now.If i unhook batts and rehook them up it reads right until you shut truck off, then it goes to 70 again.I had the temp sensor replaced a couple of days ago and no fix.Any Ideas?

Where in Idaho are you. I am from Coeur D' Alene and can tell you that Lake City Ford is a horrible dealer. You may have to go into spokane if you are up in that area.

Mine will do this randomly, not neccessarily at 70 but whatever the last shut down temp was. Ive gone out to the truck and it will be stuck at 68 when it is a good 90+ outside. It will clear itself when driving at times and just start scrolling up to the proper temp. Strange.

I'm in Louisiana and mine does similar things. I just thought it was mine(grin)...That's how things get figured out! Mine doesn't read that far off, but it is a good 10-12 degree's. I do remember when I first got the vehicle it was within 1-2degree's.

I doubt this has anything to do with anything, but is everyone's truck "Tuned" that is having this problem? Mine is...

My truck is just a little tuned and it's not doing it. Mine reads perfect. Sounds like an odd problem.

The gauge worked perfect for 10,000 miles. Now it reads 68-70 after you fire it up.i drove 100 miles and it got close to right temp 1-2 off, then shut truck off and fired up the next morn and 68 deg and stays there all day even when it 100 out.Maybe it's the heat ouside (100) that's causing the issue!!!

I have 2006 F350. When I bought it the ext temp read 50 degrees. Since it was about 50 degrees, I didn't think anything about it and headed from central texas to Las Vegas. It never changed except once during a hard rain it went to -40 and the heater autmatically went to full blast. I had it checked in Henderson NV and the external temp sensor was bad. It was replaced and has been correct since them.

The service ticket says:
Fail code: C20
Cond code: 42
Part number: 5W7Z12A647A

Jim...That was exactly what I was wondering about...The "Auto" air never kicked off for me possibly because my ext temp sensor was not reading correct. It's been working fine for a while until I noticed today that it was reading 78 when it was 91 outside. I'll have to check in to getting it fixed.

I had the sensor replaced on monday and the problem is still there.I did unhook both neg batt cables to reset and the temp read almost instantly, then after i shut truck off and left overnight in the garage the nest morning it stayed on 70 even when it was 86 deg outside.Maybe a reset problem.
