Steering gear box preload
Anyone know what the proper preload is for the shaft/wormgear bearings on a 56 F100? I'm rebuiling a gear box and the kit came with a load of shim gaskets. I looked in my maint manual and all it says is add/delete shims until you reach the proper preload. It must have been common knowledge to Ford mechanics in 1956, because I couldn't find it anywhere in the manual.
