Dana 60 Pinion preload
hi guys,
need help to figure out why i am not able to set the pinion preload to specs.
It was fine last time i checked. the old bearings were shot so i have been using the new bearings to set up the gears.
before taking the carrier to the shop to get my new bearings pressed in had a beautifull 20 ft-lb.
just went to do a final check before installino the pinion oil seal and with the pinion nut at 250ft-lb i get 10 ft-lb!!??!!?
tried to decrease the shims to get more preload but nothing changes. how is that possible?
inspected the bearings... everything looks ok.
any suggestion is very much appreciated..
