So is this good or bad for milage? I try to keep the RPM's under 2k most of the time and drive around 70 mph or less. I checked my milage after the first tank and I only got 15.26 mpg! I used the AC a lot and did about 20% of the miles in the city.
The truck has 20k miles, a cap, and it's a super crew. I was expecting to see a couple more miles per gallon!
Well I wouldnt expect much more than that. The mileage range on these trucks are 14-17 typically. The mileage difference between the 3.73 and 3.55 will be negligible. You may be able to get an additional mpg or two out of it by using a tuner and catback. BTW....is this the 5.4 or the 4.6?
If it is a 5.4 that is a good respectable mpg. I noticed it is an FX4 4wd. You said you used the ac and that is very bad on gas mpg especially in the city, highway not so bad. The 3.55's would get a little better on the highway but there would be a little loss in low end torque to the wheels. To get those extra couple of mpg you desire get a cold air intake and a good flowing catback exhaust, I reccamend the flowmasters. By the way how much did you get it for, it is a very nice looking truck looks new.

It's a 5.4L. I don't do much towing, and if I do it wouldn't be much, like a small boat or couple of ATV's. Any recomendations on a chip, or tuner, or whatever? I know very little about them. How much am I looking at spending? I AM concerned with milage, and would like to be closer to 18 like the sticker said!
Well for tuners....the sky is the limit! I personally use a tuner from Edge (as do many others in this forum). A little bit of searching will yield a whole wealth of information about tricking these trucks out. If memory serves, you can get an Edge for ~350.
Highflow cat back exhaust (flowmaster, magnaflow, dynomax, aero, etc.), and engine tuner (edge evolution), and a cold air intake (volant, airaid) will give you what you want. Your looking to spend: exhaust $300 - $500 (depending on where you go and which brand you go with), tuner $325 (at discountpowerparts.com best price on the net), and about $250 - $300 for the cai (also look at discountpowerparts.com). All are definitely worth it in the long run.
What's a cold air intake and catback exhaust. Can you recommend a model number?
I paid $22k plus my crappy '99 B4000. It also has spray in liner, cap, electric brakes, and remote starter. The reciever looks pretty new, so I'm guessing the previous owner didn't tow too much. It's pretty much flawless, so far. Must have been an old guys?

I agree with the first two mods, but not the CAI. Provided you thermally insulate the stock intake assembly, it will works as well or better than a CAI.
