02 escape

my 02 escape with 40,000 miles is starting to make a noise when it shifts out of overdrive. beside that the trans. is smooth.
when I am in overdrive and tramp it it rough shifts to drive. and sggestions?

Have you had the transmission fluid changed? If not, you might want to do so and see if that helps.

Agreed. Even if it looks clean, have it powerflushed with Mercon. Like all cars/trucks, the Escape has a weak link. It our case, it's the automatic transmissions. I would flush it and verify that the recall for the PCM has been done.

How does it feel continually hitting the torque converter in the 40-50mph range (without your foot in it) by varying your speed? Do you feel a shudder?
