rear leafspring swap to front

rear leafspring swap to front
will the rear leafsprings off an 04 f150 stx fit on my 78 f250 front? they seem to be the same and they are free. just wondering if anyone knows if they fit or they will be to soft or hard up front? has anyone tried to do this?

I'm not familiar with the springs on the 04's but you'll want to check the eye to eye length (I believe our front springs are about 53" eye to eye IIRC). I know all the pre 97 trucks had much longer rear springs. The other thing to check is the measurement on the centering bolt. Typically the rear springs will have the centering bolt closer to the front eye than the rear. If this is the case on the 04 then your front axle would be too far forward even IF the eye to eye length was correct.
Again, I can't tell you for sure one way or another, you'll need to take some measurements to verify but my guess is no, it will not work.
