Hello, I have a question for the van guros out there.
Long story short, my dad is a mechanic and has come across a problem he was not seen before. On a clients 95 windstar, (I don't know anything else about it) It will start when attempted, BUT once it hasd been shut off, the battery must be disconnected, and then re-connected before it will run again.
Has anyone come across this before? Any ideas? Would this be a bad module?
Any ideas would be appreciated, and I will post more info if I get more.
It's a long-shot but I'd check the emergency fuel cutoff switch and related circuitry. Commonly called a rollover switch, it's designed to disable the fuel system in the event of a vehicle rollover to reduce the likelyhood of fire.
all kind of staff is possible when ECU is bad. I had a problem on 1994 Escort Wagon - after 40 minutes of driving engine would start to miss and after a minute would stop completely. After few minutes could be restarted; but would work 5-10 seconds and dye again. After that, there was like a horror movie: if try to start or simply keep the igntion ON, all (!!!) the lights on dash board would start to blink, various relays all around the car would arratically click all at once. Scary! Tell you guys, I would not be surprized if the blood would start to drip from the roof.
Turned out to be faulty ECU, was confurmed by heating it up with heat gun and later swapping ECU from identical car.
