Is there anyway for the DIY mechanic to correct the mileage of a cluster? I swapped one recently and the original cluster had 75k on it and the junkyard replacement has about 140k. I'd like to reset this obviously if possible.
If I have to reset it to zero, then pulse it to 75K I can pulse it no problem.
There are many places online where you can send it to get it reprogrammed unfortunately they seem to want to shroud the details in "black magic".
This is done with a programmer the wires leaving it are soldered to the odometer at 6 points. The programmer reprograms to EEPROM replacing the mileage data.

Well if that's all it is I can probably reverse engineer it assuming the eeprom is marked with it's correct designation and not resurfaced to hide its type/model/brand.
Making a simple programmer or adapting one I own is cake, just need to figure out which eeprom was used.
