I know that this a ford forum but i thought that id give it a try any ways.
I have a 93 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0L the problem is, that when im coming to a stop, either braking or down shifting the engine seems to stumble and most of the time die. i have no problem starting it up right a way but it just dies. im not sure if its coincedence but it started doing this right around the time it started getting warmer and it seems to do it more in the middle of the day when its warmer. if anyone has any ideas let me know. im not really sure where to even start. thanks
have you tried pulling the codes from the computer? if it is like my 92 jeep xj,you can do it by cycling the key off and on 3 times, then leave it on the 3rd time and count the series of flashes from the check engine light. then you can either look in your manual or it is probably somewhere online what the flashes mean. i am not sure how the wranglers are set up,but the xj's had a problem with the crankshaft positioning sensor going bad. lucky for me so far my xj hasn't had that problem because they are supposed to be a real treat to change
Hey cjben, thanks alot for that tip, it worked out great. i didnt get tthe crank sensor which is good but i did get some others they might be the cause. thanks.
