I work for a construction company and we were setting precast concrete stairs down into a sheer wall/stairwell from the seventh floor with a Manitowik 888 crane. Once the last stair was set I went out onto it to release the hooking points, as I was doing that the crane flagger/radio guy looked like he was going to unhook the bottom two hooks. So I turned around and headed back up the stairs. The flagger then told the crane operator to cable up and the stairs started going with it. I jumped from the stairs to the floor adjacent and got clear. Luckily, there was enough rebar sticking out of the top of the landing that the stairs didn't fall, however had that rebar not been there the top of the stairs would have fallen with me on them. Who knows what would have happened to the stairs or the crane when those stairs fell, they could have broken and fell on me or the crane could have buckled under the falling then catching and jerking from the load.
Kind of a sobering moment, I and my fiance are very glad I am still alive. When I told her about it she was putting wedding invitations in envelopes, the day is only 7 weeks away.
damn dude, gotta depend on yourself. glad you're ok! Do Not take any day for granted. and have a good wedding day. and cherish each moment you two have together.
Glad you are OK. About 17 years ago I was working on a main line water leak and jumped in a wet, muddy hole to see if I could feel where the leak was coming from. A few minutes later all the residents were complaining about not having any power. Come to find out we had ripped into an under ground Edison line. When Edison showed up to make the repair I told them I was down in the hole and they told me how lucky I was to be alive. It really makes you think, and be very thankful for every day we are alive.
I have has several close to death experiences and in my opinion it was Luck/Fate/Destiny that allowed me not to get hurt fataly
Well in mho, the God of fate, the God of luck, and the God of destiny must have their hands full taking care of you. The Gods of fate and destiny work their miracles only after the God of luck sets your path in motion.

Glad to see all is well whoever was looking out for you. You could say it was God and you for having the ability to jump away.... I am not going to say either way what I think but over the years with my job I have come to one conclusion, when your numbers up its up....
There is only one thing for certain - no one knows whether it was God or luck. Be grateful you're alive and don't get wrapped up in meaningless religious discussions on the Internet.
