Gauge readings

I just installed my Quadzilla Commander unit. What an awesome thing. Displays up to four engine parameters at once.
Now I know it's somewhere here on this forum, but does PowerStroke have curves that show for given RPM's what the EGT's should read? Trans temp? Boost? How do I know what's 'normal' and what's 'max'? I don't tow YET. I bought the Quad Commander 'cause I want to see what my truck's doing unloaded. Then, see if I need a chip, exhaust mod, intake mod, etc. If I am running close to the limits NOW unloaded, I will have to do something to help out the performance.

I don't believe there is one.

Here is why: EGT's will vary by RPM depending on the load/boost on the engine based on what you are doing. e.g. Driving down the interstate on level road in OD at 70mph you may experience something like 2000rpms depending on your gearing and have a boost number of about 5 or less and an EGT of anywhere between 5 and 800* depending on ambient temps and probe mounting location etc.

If you are in cruise, and you start up a hill, more boost/fuel will be given to maintain speed. This will cause the PSI and EGTs to go up. The steeper the grade the more they go up.

Same goes for standing starts. If you accelerate from a stop mashing it up to 2k rpms, you will have a higher boost and egts until the load/demand is reduced.

I don't think there is a chart for this but you are right on track getting an unloaded baseline. If your truck is healthy, they will serve you well while monitoring it under a load.

Just keep and eye on the egts and tranny temp. Hope this helped.

Another thing to note is that when the engine is bogged down more, as in, turbo not spooling up a lot yet and lots of fuel being thrown at it to get what you're demanding... you'll see smoke and high egts. When you get the RPMs up, and get more air in, and less smoke (fuel's being burned more fully from more air), then the EGTs will be lower.

Mess around with different RPMs and different gears and speeds and see what the EGTs do along w/ boost and smoke, kinda fun.

if it has boost and EGT parameters, set the max at 25psi and 1250*. also, set the turbo timer to 350 degrees.

i notice when i lug my truck in OD, i can get to 1050 if i want up a steep hill. however i am spinning 1400 rpm or so. im sure if i locked it out of OD, and started at the bottom at 2100rpm, i could easily maintain speed at around 850*.
same goes with towing. if you are towing in OD and you have high EGT's, kick it out of OD, the injectors are in a lesser fuel rack position, so they will be delivering less fuel per stroke, but more rapidly.

Quick trip between Houston and Centerville (about 150 miles North) today. Outside temp between 87 and 98. Trans temp between 145 (lo side) to 157 (hi side). Boost max 6. EGT max 850 (normally around 6 to 700). No trailer. Very small load. 70 mph cruising speed. How do these numbers sound? I personally think the trans temp is a bit high for not having a load. Comments from you towing vets?

50* above ambient temps sounds pretty reasonable to me. Especially this time of year.
