Just a couple of days ago, I found out about the MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) Needing periodic cleaning. I never knew that it needed that.
First, I did the MAF on my Mothers 96 Town car, and the engine calmed down tremendously, running smoother than it had for years. More power, better accelleration.
Worked so nice, I have now done it to the wifes 97 Mountaineer, Mom's 99 Expedition, friends 96 Bronco, 98 F150, a 93 Escort, a 97 Suburban,
and my 95 Excursion V10.
In every case, the engines quieted down, ran smoother, and with more power. several sounded like they were new, they were so quiet.
The fact that my 95 Excursion calmed down and ran as smooth as glass was
VERY suprising, as it only has 30K miles. MUCH more power.
I'm going to add MAF cleaning to every oil change. It could not be simpler to do. I just sprayed the wires and venturis with CRC electric cleaner. A strong spray for about 4 seconds.
