I am going to change my intake on my 352 this winter to a four barrel intake. Are there any surprises I will need to watch out for? FOr instance puch rods or rocker arms? THanks in advance.
Hoss, I don't think you will like the results, after all of the bucks that you will shell out. Secondly a 750 is much too large, 600 cfms is about all a 352 can handle that isn't built to handle the extra gas. IMHO

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Unglued: It makes a difference if you are using a stock or after market intake. I only know stock ones, so I'll speak to that.
If your carb is pre-EGR, you'll probably find it easier to use an earlier intake. The later one intakes use a hole in the manifold to port exhaust gases up into the carb spacer and/or the carb. The earlier one is solid.
As far as push rods go, they just go through the manifold, so there should be no problem switching out.
Just my 2cents worth.
I have worked at a Ford dealership for over 25 years...I remember the rebuilt FE and FT engines we installed, sometimes would have different length push rod in them. They would mark them with red, blue, or green paint, and the rocker arm also. I would make sure I put the rocker arms back on the side they came off of, and keep the push rods in the order they came off too.
Hello Unglued.I think John is correct. You won't see any real gains exept for fuel consumption. Beleive me I been there done that.If you want the 4bbl to work right, and more power is what you want(from the 352).You need to get a cam kit that will let it use the extra fuel.It will work great with the 4 speed & the 411 gear & headers. portmatching your int. & exhast will make power too. good luck ,
Replace the stock cam while you are in there. Use a Cloyes dual roller timing chain, Pertronix ignition, flat cap and fat wires, and consider adjustable rockers. Install oil restrictors in the head oil galleries. Read and under stand the tech article on this site about rocker assembly preload. Don't mix up any parts you plan to re use. If the basic engine is strong you should have a pretty snappy performing truck. Now lets talk about the 390CI FE you really need. :-)
