one, ABS light is on as I am driving down the road?
two, shifting problems , hard shifting through most gears and down shifts while at a constant speed, no hills, no heavy load
three, overdrive light is/was flashing. Drove home and the light wasn't flashing, trip to town, the light flashed non stop.
tran fluid seems OK ,Bubbles though, still red // stupid dip sticks are so hard to read with that plastic reader on the end.
My 96 just did the same thing. It was the speed sensor. After I changed it I disconnected the batteries for about 15 minutes to clear it. Runs fine now.
Part replaced, truck is OK again
One question, speed sensor on rear diff is it called VSS or ABS sensor ?
Sensor on the Trans what is it called?
This was copied from a Ford repair manual: Brake Sensor, Anti-Lock, Rear
The rear anti-lock brake system (RABS) sensor is a coil mounted on the rear axle housing. The RABS sensor ring is mounted on the ring gear in the differential and rotates close to the RABS sensor. As it rotates, the RABS sensor ring magnetically induces an AC voltage into the RABS sensor. The AC voltage is proportional to the rear wheel speed and is used by the anti-lock electronic control module to determine the rate of deceleration of the rear wheels.
