Fuel filter

I have a 1990 F350 crew cab short box 4X4 centurion (not stock)
on real hot days it will not run well on the back tank (bogs down, lugs, etc...), but will run fine on the front tank. Is it the fuel filter, or the lines getting hot? Any help would be appreciaited. Thank you

Could be different things, but I noticed that my 94 F250 460 would have more power on the front tank. When I changed the filter, the engine came alive and I cannot tell the difference between tanks now.

So a filter could solve this problem and since it is a periodic maintenance item you should probably be changing it every 30K miles or 3 years would be my guess.

Mine had 36K on it when I bought used. I suspec the filter had never been changed. It ran fine towing and regular driving. But after I think 80K miles it seemed it didn't have the pep it used to and it would stumble badly when I switched tanks. I chnged the filter and you already know what I said. Over time we don't notice gradual declines in performance, so that is why they have recommended intervals, I just got lazy.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson
