Best place to buy the new drain plug for the HFCM?
Can those of you that have bought the new HFCM drain plug please give your input on the BEST place to buy this?
Ford part number: 6E7Z-9C082-A
International part number: 2589259C91
List price is around $16.00
I am really just wondering if $16 for this lil gizmo is the best price that I can expect to find, or has anyone else found this little metal screw for a more reasonable price than $16?
Mine would have drained the tank dry but I put the plug back in after about 3 gallons of diesel leaked out. Dealer said they had a newer designed HFCM and replaced it. Works as it should now.

The revised drain plug is not just a little metal screw. Buy it from your local International dealer.
Don't forget your 1847170C92 fuel filter kits while you're there (OEM Racor, with Aquabloc, about $32/kit.)
I've drained mine a number of times so far, always into a wide oil drain pan that I have handy.
I put on a set of latex gloves before starting and so far have managed to do it each time without taking the dreaded diesel shower.
Once the HFCM has drained - it stops at around a pint or so - I pour the pan into an old bottle to let it separate and I've never had more than a drop or two of water show up so far.
Thankfully all the places around here where I buy fuel must be pretty good at keeping the fuel clean and dry
when the light comes on. It's telling you that it is sensing water in the fuel. If that light comes on, you don't necessarialy need to replace the filters. Rather, it's just telling you that you need to drain the HFCM (Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module) of any water that may have accumulated there.
It's a brass plug with a 6mm hex opening on it. It's on the HFCM, located on the drivers side inner frame rail. Just unscrew it, making sure you have a container ready to catch the fuel that will pour out of it. Have something like a gallon milk jug or 2-3 liter soda bottle with the top cut off. The amount of fuel that dispenses will vary from person to person. Some say that only a cup or two has come out. Others, like myself had a lot more than that come out.
If you have the means to do so, I suggest going out and purchasing an updated brass plug for the HFCM. Found here
