I have a 2004 F-150 regular cab. AM/FM Radio & manual A/C controls. I was wondering how to get the piece of dash around the radio off. Thanks for any help!
Its only held on by clips.
Extend out the ashtray
On the bottom piece of the dash that come down on either side of the of the opening..at the "bottom left and right corners"
Pull!...
a firm but gentle pull...
Don't pull to hard after you see it giving... the instrument control wiring is still attached..
Edited....for Instruction paragraph..

Removeing the dash piece will not hurt my truck in any way will it?
If your still talking about the section around the Radio and heater-a/c controls ...then no..
When I'm at home, mine usually comes off at least once a month... for various reasons... Of course I havn't had the truck very long (while @ home), so that doesn't account for much.
Once you start pulling from the bottom left and right corners. You should see how its actually fastened...
Nothin' to it...!
I just did that yesterday to put in my new(er) CD 6. Not sure what thread it was in, but I did find it on a search... I have an STX, and I had to pry out the corners with a screwdriver as I have no ashtray to remove...
