There is a braided steel wire that is about 1/8 thick and 3/4 inches wide hanging from my right side exaust, right under the fire wall.
The other end just has a clip on it like it would just slide onto the frame somewhere, is this just a ground wire ? If so, where was it originally connected ?
It is a ground wire and it clips onto the body (you will see a ridge there) and grounds the exhaust for a few reasons including the O2 sensor.
I run grounds directly to the battery to a marine terminal. One for the engine (or alt. bolt), body, frame, exhaust, and casing of the voltage regulator. I posted elsewhere about the gauges used.
