70 351 W. The wire that is attached to the coil and then goes over to the condenser inside the dist. has just about had it. It is not typical wire in that it does not braid like normal wire, seems more like some sort of fiber wire.
Napa tell me they have no listing for it but I am guessing they dont know how to find it. Does anyone have a good part # for this wire or would it be just Ok to replace this with a typical braided wire?

I bought one from NAPA within the past year. I don't have the number at my fingertips. Several of the parts supply houses that specialize in these old truck have it as well. It is called the primary wire. I would not use a regular piece of wire except in an emergency as the point plate must be free to move.

Excellent, I am glad I asked. I thought I was maybe being ridiculous. I will call Napa here and see if I can get any further. , thanks again
Be mindful there are two types. One type runs from the points to the distributor housing terminal and the other type runs from the points to the coil with no through the housing terminal. The longer wire can replace the shorter wire with the housing terminal.
Called Napa, part # LW63, you can see it on their website, Trouble is no rubber boot on the end but that is all that is available. I ordered it, they said it would take about 3 weeks unless I wanted to pay extra freight. Its approx 9 inches, I guess I will have to drill out the gimick on the old wire that supports it as it passes through the dist. and place it on my new wire, that is all that Napa says they can offer.
Maybe something else will pop up or a good part number that I can use, Thanks again

A generous glob of black RTV where the wire goes through the distributor housing and you're good. Put a slight loop in the wire so it flexes.
Its 19 3/4 long which is about 10 inches longer than my original but it has the rubber boot gimick half way up the wire and other than the extra length appears to be the correct wire, 12 bucks
Ill check it out but will prob go this route I guess, itll look neater
But it is nice to have the correct part. Fits right, looks right, functions correctly. It sounds to me like you need to find a better NAPA store. For as many small block Ford engines and distributors are still out there, I have a hard time believing that part is obsolete.

Florida is a disaster of people to have to deal with.
