King pin/spindle replace

I had my old king pin bushings in my 1963 F100 replaced by a local machine shop and want to put the spindles, etc. back on the old straight axel. My problem is that I took the spindles off over a year ago and do not know the proper placement of the bearings and shims which came with the kit. I also don't know if the spindles are rights and lefts or if the straight axel itself has a right or left side. There does not appear to be any markings on the spindles showing rights or lefts or that the axel is anything but the same on both sides. There is a camber cast into the spindles which I think would have the "longer" part of the spindle go on the top. I have been told it would go together something like this:
As the pin slides down the top of spindle, I would add any shims between the spindle and the axel; continuing down with the pin, I would then add the bearing, pushing the pin all the way to the bottom. Once through, I line up the machined groove of the pin and then tap in the "keeper" pin, cinching it down with the nut. For those who have done this, could you let me know if all this sounds right? Finally, would I be advised to grease the bearing and coat the pin and shims and "keeper" prior to installation? Any special grease? Well, thanks to one and all for your help.

See if this link helps you. I believe the grease fittings on the spindles face the rear of the truck and the spindle hub is horizontal when installed but will point up if on the wrong side. Its been over a year since I replaced mine and have since sold the entire front spring/axle setup so I can't go look for you. The pic should help on the assembly though.

Thanks for your quick reply. I didn't seem to pull up any pics of your axel unless you were refering to the pics of your new front spring shackles. It's good advice, however, about the grease fittings, I would not have thought about that, but I think you are right on. Thanks again, I think you can be a wealth of info.

I tried to post a link to Johns F-fun hundreds but Kens codes smudged the link a bit. Try this (but omit the spaces)
