If he has a 79 F-250 he should already have dual piston calipers. Tha article talks about upgrading from Bronco single piston. Would he still have to upgrade calipers anyway? Just wondering because I was thinking of doing that swap myself, trying to stop 38.5 swampers.
Jmudder, that's what I was thinking. Everyone I talked to that did the swap on their f250s only talked about bolting in the booster and MC. I went out and picked up a front axle off a 78 f250 for my 74 Highboy and it has dual piston calipers. How big do these calipers have to be for the upgrade to work right?
Second thing I'm wondering is did you use a 4wd or 2wd Booster set up? the upgrade everyone her seems to be talking about is with a 2wd f350 booster for the 4wd f250 truck.
I did the upgrage. M/C, booster, proportioning valve. It works better. stops pretty good. However you can not lock up the brakes. I have a shell with a carpet kit and camping gear in it. Running 35 x 12.5 x17 pro comp extreme all terrain tires. Maybe with the weight and tires, it just wont do it ( lock up that is ) But it is better
So even though the truck already has dual piston calipers up front, and a PPV set up for those DPC, it is still necessary to change out the PPV and/or calipers?
If the brakes system has been bled thoroughly and flushed.
Then, Seems like the rear brakes need adjusting or the proportion / combination brake valve is defective.
There was a post, if someone can post where, the combination valve selling
for around 79.99.
