So i had ac work done.. its cold now but, when i turn it on the compressor makes a pretty loud thunk, also after about 10 min of ac the compressor or something makes a loud humming noise.. like its trying to cool down or something.. it also drips like a mug.. i mean it will leave a puddle.. this is less than4 month old ac.. any ideas..
The "thunk" is the clutch engaging; the puddle is condensation (I assume the humidity is pretty high in Nashville). Have you tried to isolate the humming to under the dash or under the hood?
the humming is under the hood near the ac unit.. the clutch engaging should just be a click.. correct?? the condensation.. is near flood.. not a drip.. its humid as anything in nashville .. with humidity its like 115 today..
Did the compressor clutch only "click" before you had the A/C system in your '98 worked on? The higher the humidity, the more condensation you're gonna get out of the drain (hopefully it's clear with no antifreeze mixed in). As far as the humming, maybe you should have the tech who worked on it take a look.
The temp here is 118 with 12% humidity (normal); I can't imagine what Nashville must feel like!
yes it use to just click.. now it thunks.. the fluid is water.. just lots of it.. the humming.. yeah i dunno.. also when i drive faster than 60 mph there is a rattle .. same area.. can't pin point it.. i am taking it back in the AM
