You need to take the Air cleaner off and check for a fuel leak or fuel over filling a float chamber in the Carburetor.
Try starting it with the pedal on the floor like mention above.
If you have no gas lying around on the intake manifold then go ahead and check for spark.
If no spark check the clip-on connector on the Ignition Coil.
You could have a bad Ignition Module or pickup coil in the Distributor.
It sounds like a bad wire set to me. I'd start there, get the NAPA premiums as they are the only ones that will last, they are also the same as the dealer set. I'd also replace the cap and rotor, and again use the NAPA premium stuff, it's a little pricey, but why change them yearly with cheap stuff when you can use the better stuff and replace them every three or so. Is it carbed? I thought in '87 they went to EFI on all engines but the 351ho....

The 1987 460 Motorhomes were carbed and had a vapor bypass from the fuel line in front of the carb. with no EEC but did have Electric Fuel Pumps. The 1987 460 Motorhome also had the Duraspark II Ignition system. I think the 1988 460 Motorhomes were EFI.
Do not forget that a 1987 460 Motorhome is running 90% of the time on a 1986 Ford E350 Incomplete Vehicle Frame and you need a set of 1986 Ford Manuals to work on a 1987 460 Motorhome.
This is because a Motorhome is not registered as a FORD but as to the year and make of the home.
The Motorhome Mgf. orders the Incomplete Vehicle from a Vehicle Mfg. (FORD, GM, or Dodge) and when they get done making the home and mounting it you get the year one off from the home. And states will only register the home and not the Incomplete Vehicle.
When you go to buy parts at the Parts Store tell them it is a 1986 not a 1987 as they do not understand all of this.
