My 1986 6.9 L is shot, I found a 1988 7.3L/ C6 for a good price, the guy sais that the C6 on the 7.3L is shot so I will just buy the block. Question: will the 7.3 have the same bolt pattern on my bell housing, I also have a C6 auto trans.

I don't think there is any way that manual glow plugs could have anything to do with popping the head off a valve. That looks like plain component failure to me.
Think about how many times that valve opens and closes every minute the engine is running.
Thanks for the info ! Actually I did find out why the valve dropped,it all boils down to the two small 1 cent retaining cups that holds the valve stem at the top of the spring, I found them when I took the valve cover off, the inside of the cups were worn out and smooth, it was a component failure. All the glow plugs are in good condition but I did see a few small marks on one piston head probably from a fried tip from the previous owner. In conclusion a 1cent part is costing me 1500 euros !!Thats the way it goes, philosophically speaking you can
break a $1000 tooth by biting into an apple LOL .
