Desiel62,
The reason I had my IP rebuilt was exactly as yours is doing. The advance govenor is wearing out and it was causing the exact same symtems as yours.
I would look for and talk to a desiel repair shop in your area. The shop I used gave me a turnaround time of less than 48 hrs. they also tested my injectors while i watched and then did a new on to show me the difference.
The lift pump on our motors is only supposed to supply 7 lbs. of fuel presure to the IP, acording to the Standadyne Shop in my area. My truck had 176K when I bought it knowing I needed to have the IP done. it was all still at that time in grey paint. New Injectors are about $32 apiece, and the rebuild of my pump was around $300.
I drive a 93 non/turbo also, My fuel consumption went from 15mpg to Now 21+ MPG and great power.
Please fill in your Signature, about your truck,
Thanks for the info Flyboyd8, for the info. I have a feeling it might be the same problem here. I'm going to run some tests first, and try to isolate the problem.I hope. Dave
Hi All,after reading most of the problems due to air in fuel lines,I am looking for a source for the return lines, the short ones connecting one to the next,is their a kit of some sort for all of the return lines? The link from others posts using " lines" takes me to a Brake supply site! ?? Thanks for your help.... Rickk
“Fuel system return line restriction: Restriction in fuel return will raise the pressure in the injection pump causing an adverse effect. This can result in loss of power and high smoke levels”
This was taken from a Ford service disk for trucks covering 93 through November 94. I obtained this disk on e-bay, bought it for about 9 bucks out right. You might need special software to view it, ask before you buy. I’m not plugging anyone but it’s the best 9 bucks I ever spent!
I haven't had the time to look at it since my last post. I hope it is just a fuel line return line restriction, some where. Thanks again 93_e_350. Dave L.
