On my 03 6.0L when I first download a program it pops and blows a little smoke until the 3rd or 4th time I drive it. It only started doing this after the oxygen sensor update or reflash.

The computer adjusts parameters based on sensor inputs so its part of the normal adaptive cycle for something to change after a few drives. Have you contacted Diablo, it may be something specific to your PCM code?
