well im not one for putting chebby stuff on quality vehicles as far as the clearance goes how much would a carb spacer affect your setup if you have the room? and as far as the spark if you pick up the electronic dizzy out of a later model fe truck you can wire that dizzy straight to an msd box or jacobs ignition they have several diff models have a wiring diagram with them and most either have a built in rev limiter or can have one added to them. and then you get the added bennefit of multiple spark ignition better fuel burn which means more ponies.
