1995 Checking E4OD MLPS.........

Is there any special way nto check this on my van? I have an intermittant hard shift (sometimes during cold tranny fluid drive so I think it may not be a heat issue). I want to see if there is corrosion in the connector. Thanks.

You can do a sweep test with a multimeter but that's about it. The problem isn't usually the connector, its the rheostat inside. They will develope a bad spot on the contacts and give an intermittant faulty reading. Very difficult to diagnose if it hasn't set a code.

In most cases, if you think there may be a problem, replace it and see if the problem goes away. If not, that wasn't it.

As this vehicle is at that magic age where original factory parts start failing (around 10 years) I'll replace it like you say. Is there a step by step available? !Thanks Steve

I don't know if there is a proceedure anywhere. Its pretty straight foreward. You will note the mounting holes are slotted. When you remove the old one note its position then try to match it with the new one. Once its in, adjust it so the vehicle will start in neutral and park. That should do it.

I'll be replacing it as soon as we get a break in this heatwave. Heat index is at 105F today! I'll do a followup post for sure. Thanks again.
