My 73 does not have a check engine light. How do I know when to check it?

In the days of "service stations", the attendant would check the engine every time you got gas. At the least, he would check the oil level

For all the above who clearly don't know, our sixth generation F-Series ford trucks are equipped with a sophisticated five point onboard diagnostic system. Ford called this system "Driver". "Driver" is activated the instant the vehicle is started and uses a combination of sight, sound, feel, smell, and in extreme cases, taste. "Driver" can also repair the vehicle for only parts cost, automatically. Best of all, it comes standard in all trim levels, four wheel drive too!

Oh these trucks have a check engine light alright, like most of us you have not seen it yet. Ford built these trucks tuff, so most of us only have to put gas in. There have been a few reported cases where owners have had to add oil, or new tires now and then. Other than that, drive em and have fun.

I figured this was in jest, but after the thread about the "emergency brake reminder light" that wasn't working properly, I wasn't sure...

Love it.

I use "taste" sometimes when I see a puddle on the ground under my truck.
