I have a couple questions I am putting a 4V intake on my motor here soon but I was wondering is the factory 429 2V actually rare and if so what would the intake with factory carb be worth, it runs with it right now.
the 2v motors were used were people don't normally look to find a performance motor, I. E. grandmas car, the thunderbirds and linclons and big old boats like that mostly but thats were a majority of the 429s built actually went.
yea but in all the junkyards ive been to in my years ive yet to find any performance motors ,ive seen a couple 5.0 H.0's but even they go fast, seems people nab em as soon as they get em.I know im hanging on to my 429 thunderjet, its mostly stock except i have longtube headers and holley 750 and running just my alt, and psteering pump, and 180tstat.

Lincoln had 4V 460s never 429s. The 429 2V were in the full size Fords and Merc.
Yea those were the torque monsters back then.Ive always wanted to see though in person a legendary boss 429.I know Ford in 94 built a show off mustang using a boss 429 and stroked it ,and added fuel injection, made somewhere around or near 800 hp motor alone.
The reason the 429 2bbls don't stay long in a junkyard is due to the dirt track guys. The original 2 bbl 429 carb is the biggest Autolite 2 bbl with 1.33 bores. Check it out.The bore size is cast into the carb body behind the accellerator pump rod. The 1.23 & 1.33 carbs are fairly rare and are keepers. The intake makes a dandy boat anchor. Chances are though the carb isn't the original after nearly 40 years, but you never know.
