rockyrider: I let the truck downshift when it needs to and then turn off the overdrive. If I could ever remember I would probably turn off the OD before starting up a hill so that the engine doesn't rev. so high when it downshifts. The highest RPM I can stand to drive my truck is at 3000 RPM. Pulling a 28' boxtrailer with my mustang and tools in it the EGTs got up to 1150 and it was still going up, by using the lower gear and increasing RPM the EGTs dropped to 1000 or so. I believe that 1200 it the max limit for EGT. Having the power to pull at whatever speed is nice, but the gauges force me to slow down and take it easy. Oh well, it does keep one from getting tickets...
I'm kind of new to the diesel side of this board. I just traded in my 86 F-150 351 H.O. for a 95 Powerstroke. One of the earlier posts stated somthing about making a DIY intake. Does anyone have links to directions/pics? Thanks.

You might consider a new lift pump if you change the injectors. I have heard the factory lift pump wont support a great deal over the stock level injectors.
lift pump is built into the stock pump in valley, there is no way to upgrade unless you switch to an aftermarket electric fuel system. Stock fuel pump is adequate to 400 +/- hp.
Curious about the Stage-1's. How much will they add to the performance, assuming I already have all the other common mods.
How much time for a typical install?
i took about 6 hours by myself going slow. i also had to swap all my solenoids so it took longer. definitely not a job you wanna rush but can be done in one day...
and for your 2nd part of the question. well lets just say my truck is no longer a dog. its has the same effect a corvette or mustang does. you hit the go pedal and you get thrown into the back of your seat. no b.s.!!!!!
