A body lift is possible for any vehicle that's not a Unibody design. Yes it is possible and fairly common. Some people do it to allow for more room for bigger turbo exhaust pipes (You don't have a turbo) . Some do it for appearance, some for tire clearance. Just bear in mind that any component that connects to the body on one end and the frame on the other end will need to be lenghtened. Body lifts are basically spacers that go between the frame and the body. The higher you go, the more involved it gets. For example your motor will not move up, nor will your cooling fan, but your fan shroud will. Go too far and the fan will hit the bottom of the shroud if you don't plan for it, your steering column, brake lines, throttle linkage, and shift linkage are just some of many things that will be affected.
IMO a mild body lift is the most basic lift kit, and probably the cheapest way to lift.

Im not sure your reasons for wanting a body lift, but from my experience body lifts suck. they may be a cheap way of getting a few extra inches, but they mess up so much crap. I didnt have a diesel, but it was a similar body style, and i really regreted doing the 2in body. one of the main concerns i had was the body roll. but that was the least of the problems i had.
