About two years ago I had a problem where my fuel pump would energize when the truch was in on position but would not stop after a couple seconds. Just kept on going. Finally replaced the ECC and it fixed the problem. Now the same problem has cropped up again, only this time sometimes it does sometimes not. When it does start, while still warming up it wil lose power (When driving or stopped). Replaced the computer again (warranty) and started right up with no problems and ran fine for the first trip. Next time It started fine but lost power again. Next time tried to start and fuel pump(s) won't stop running again. It seems to follow this pattern. Any Ideas? '93 F-150 inline 6 dual tanks, good plug wires, good plugs, good battery. Thanks for any help.
I recently had this same exact problem. I replaced the ECM, and it fixed it(Been 3 days now and about 200 miles with no issues) but what I found was that one of my ECM ground's wasnt right(12ohms vs <5ohms, which is what the books said it had to be) and I think sending a little too much current throught the ECM killing it slowely over time. You can go to fordfuelinjection.com and it will show you exactly how to check the 3 grounds to the ECM. If one of those is out of spec, and doesnt have a good connection, you may have to rerun the ground, and that should fix the underlying issue which was killing the ECM.
