Engine is out! Took couple of hours. Had to jack up bottom of bellhousing, take weight off front of engine and rear of trans. Then used two small wedges on top and it opened about 1/8 inch. Worked my way around with the wedges and then jacked front of engine and rear of trans so bottom would open and finally got it off. The dowel pins were very corroded.
Your going to need a few more parts-things to do the swap. A new distributor or a steel gear for your original one. Your radiator will probably be too close to the t- bird fan. You can move it forward an inch and get an aftermarket fan that takes up less room. You might have to trim your fan shroud to fit the tensioner pulley too. You'll have to do some thing if your using the t-bird power steering pump too. I took my hose ends to a local hydraulic hose shop and they made me a custom hose with my ends.

Plan on using just the 5.0 engine (block, heads, crank, cam, lifters, etc). Hoping to be able to use Bronco timing gear cover and stay with original V belts.
Does my Bronco have a fiber distributor gear that wont fit cam teeth from TBird cam? Would you know if mid '80s Mustang distributor would work.
The power steering pump from TBird is a compact unit compared to Bronco and I would like to use it. May be able to rig up a bracket from all the extra parts I'll have from the TBird.
I know I will have to use the harmonic damper from TBird, and still have to see if the torque converter from my C4 will bolt up to the TBird flex plate, if not, will have to find flex plate with correct balance that will (or have my old one rebalanced). But I plan on using the lighter, smaller starter from TBird if I can and have to work that out also. Don't yet know it # teeth on Bronco flex plate is same.
The distributor gear issue is dependent on whether it has a roller cam or not. If it is a roller cam engine, then you will need to use a steel dist gear (as opposed to the cast gear that the non roller cam engine uses). I think that you can interchange gears between the two.
If you are planning on keeping the Bronco v belt setup, you will not be able to use the TBird harmonic balancer as it is a 4 bolt mounting pattern and the offset is different. There is a company in California that can build a balancer with the late model balance to use with the 3 bolt v belt accessories.
If you are planning on the serp setup, then there is no need to move the radiator, but you will use a flex fan and a solid spacer. I have a part number for the fan if you need it.

The stock C4 used a 164 tooth flexplate. If the T-bird tranny was an AOD it should be good
TBird engine I have is roller cam. It also has AOD trans. I want to stay with old V belt system.
I'll take both distributors out and compare them to see if I can switch gears.
Will take your advice and stay with the Bronco steering pump.
Do you think there will be any trouble mounting the smaller starter on C4 bellhousing? There probably is an adapter kit somewhere if needed.
