I have a 97 expy 4.6l 4x4. The air bag light started flashing. It flashes two times then five times, it does this two or three times and then it stays on. WHat does this mean?
I had this happen (air bag sensor can't find the air bag in the steering wheel) in my '00 Expy EB, and it was eventually followed by a loss of my horn and my cruise control. Basically, the clock spring wiring harness that connects these three electrical components from the steering wheel to the steering column gets worn out.
I had mine replaced recently at the Ford dealer and it cost about $230. Problem solved!

There are a number of LFCs that may be related to the clockspring. However, don't screw with it until you have an accurate assesment of what your fault is. There are several other things that can cause the AIRBAG light to flash. Unless someone else had the exact same pattern, it may not be relevent.
It just indicates a low voltage situation had existed and now is at normal voltage. The code 52 will remain until cleared with scanner or a certain number of key cycles without fault. Autozone will reset for free...
