I got some wierd brake light issues going on. No brake lights, however got tailights with the headlights on. Got a left signal that burns but not the right. Not sure where to start troubleshooting on this. Bulbs are fine. Any idea's?
I would also resurface clean the ground wire to body molding on each tail light, those seem to build up corrision and even especially after you repainted the bed; you need to ensure a good ground to allow for a constant ground. To me not having brake likes sounds like a grounding problem. Additionally; I once was fighting with a lose fuse connection under the dash, but I lost turn signals and all during this troublesome time. You stated your left t/s works and parking lights but notthe brakes.
Could be turn signal switch but rec going with Mitch's suggestion first. Clean ground contact points at each turn signal, front and rear, see if any improvement. Also, may try disconnecting the leads to the brake switch in engine compartment, with ign. on ground the leads and if they light up then switch could be bad. Then there is the flasher unit located under the dash. Bah, darn electrical problems. Surprising how poor ground effects circuits.
Did anybody think to check the brake light switch and power?? Easy to test and easier/cheaper than the turn signal switch to replace. I would also clean and check the grounds at each light, a bad ground can cause some very strange problems.
