Convert flr shft back to tree

My 64 f100 292 has been converted to 3 spd floor shifter. My dad's old truck still had the 3 on the tree so I'd like to put it back. I remember that the gears would always hang up on us. I guess that's why people like to put them in the floor. Were the linkages just loose? I'm wondering if the tree shift hanging problem can be resolved and if anyone has experience converting it back.

If the numerous bushings were bad, they'd mess up. The shift tubes would tear and eventually break at the bottom. You can get the shift collars in repo or even the junkyard. They were the same up until the last year, 1975. The bushings for the linkage and the mechanism at the bottom of the column are in repo also. The hard item to find is the tin shift tube. I remember in the early days of my parts career, selling alot of these. Very common malfunction back then.

Thanks Barry. I'll see if I can start rounding up those parts!

Rick has rebuilt Columns at Carolina Classics, not sure about 3spd manuals in stock, but he has a bunch or did.
