Both of our trucks are F250s that we have utility bodies and tons of tools on. We actually had to get beefier spring packs as it was almost on the bumpstops with little load. They are also work trucks, so it's petal to the metal all the time. (Smoke competitions)

Every time it's happened we have been coming up a decent hill, getting on it, and then SCREEEEECH! The first time it happened I thought that I had killed it, but all was well.

We've had both of them into the county garage for this and both times they found nothing noticable wrong.

I'd say slap a new gatorback on there and try again. Also make sure that your rad is nice and clean.

I guess I need schooling on this fan clutch thing because mine turns whenever the truck is running. I don't care if it is 12*F outside, that rosco is blowing cold air. Do I have a faulty fan clutch? Or do I need to which I do not have?

It's always turning, but it isn't always fully locked up. I think that at higher RPM, it overloads the belt.

this same thing has been happening to me and it is more prevalant when towing, up a hill, and in higher outside temperatures. i will check fan clutch and belt. Is a new belt the cure or indicating problems with fan clutch.

Those of you with slipping belts, there was mention of a certain aftermarket brand of belt (well known for good stuff I might add) that was 6 mm longer than the factory Ford belt. The AM belt would slip badly and the Ford belt being a tiny bit shorter, put a higher load on the tensioner and it wouldn't slip.
Reason I am saying this is I have an OEM belt on my truck and pulling a hill 24k gross with the AC on the fan locked up and roaring, I never, ever get any slipping, screeching belt.

Yes, that was the NAPA belt people were having problems with. Might I suggest the Gates belt, or factory belt such as Kwik has.
