Where's The Factory Amp?

I'm about to replace the factory radio/CD player in my 96 EB. The stuff that I purchased included a bypass harness for the factory amp -- which they say should be in my truck. The instrucstions say that the amp is somewhere in the rear of the vehicle??????

The Amp was an option, rare one as far as I know. I think maybe it came with the CD player decks. The Amp is located in the rear of Explorers; In the Broncos it's under the dash. Also, it only had 4 speakers.

mine has a factory amp w/ four speakers...my '95 came factory with the premium sound system...where the amp is, i cannot answer...never needed to look for it... when i installed my aftermarket cd player (when the factory one peetered out), i bought a harness adapter that retained the use of the amp...

The factory amp is under the dash, if you get under the dash and look up somewhere between the brake pedal and the cd deck you'll see a silver amp that is held in with two nuts.
