I'm tearing down a 1972 F-250 4x4 to use the frame for a 67 F-250 4x2 cab.
When I got the bed off,
(steel flat-bed) inside the frame rails, about half-way between the spring hangers, I found triangular pieces. They were factory riveted to the side and the bottom of the framerails. I already fabricated replacements, but I'm wondering what they are or if I even need them?
Thanx, John
Not sure about your frame stiffeners, But, in my local Junk Yard (Dallas Georgia)770 445-5911, Ask for "Bill" I saw a complete 66 F250 camper special frame and suspension including some decent tires with the 8 hole rims. I am taking parts off this truck for use on mine and I have noticed that this truck has not been chopped up. Even the wiring harness is mostly original. The frame is nearly perfect. Reason I mention this is that I hate to see good parts for these old trucks go to the crusher. Lots of small chrome and stainless steel pieces and rust free doors.
Thanks for the reply William. I was beginning to think this was going to the archives with no reply.
I'm not sure which parts would fit off of the truck you're refering to, as mine is the first year of this body style, but I know what ya mean about seeing these trucks go to the crusher. I wish I had the land and the $$$ to hord em' all. Thanks, John
This is just my 2c worth. They are frame braces. I think their primary purpose in life is to reduce the individual frame rails from twisting. They probably also limit the amount of frame flex the truck has.
