360 teardown
A couple years ago I bought a 360FE and a C6 transmission on ebay for thirty dollars. I intend to use the motor for parts. I tore the motor down tonight and found the block is a D3TE with reinforcement webs on the mains. The block has the mirror image "105" cast on the front and again by the oil filter pad. 2TA crank, C7TE-A rods and full skirt pistons with a cast 360 by the pin boss.
The block will find it's way under the hood of something or other. I want a drag car... The crank, rods, and two barrel intake will be swapped or sold, and the heads will probably go on my current 390.
I'm buying a supposed 390 for fifty bucks sometime in the near future. If it's a 390 it will be rebuilt and put under the hood of my old '70 F100 Custom.
