valve train question
i had a ticking noise in the engine compartment that i had a professional listened to and he said that it is in the valve train and i am worndering if i need to get it repaired right away or can i wait about 3 months?

my truck is a 1969 f-250 with a 390 and c-6 trany
in three months i will be on summer break from school. my school is 150miles from my house and i will be driving my truck to and from a coupls more times including the in town driving up at school
and i am wondering if i can wait until then to have the valve train repaired. when i was at the pro he said i either had a collapsed lob on the cam or a collapsed lifter.

Dude sounds to me like you got the FE hammer. I know you said your pro. said valve train, but I'd be willing to wager, and believe I could get a good following, that you could replace the complete V train and you would still have the noise. I'll watch for more comments, but believe you have a wrist pin making that racket. As for three months, hech yeah, three years later and it'll be hammering away just as loud when you return as when you left.
Drive on, graduate, get a job and rebuild the engine.

valve train question
Like a timex they take a lickin but keep on tickin!
Or something to that effect.
Go here if you want to check for collapsed lifters yourself, you will feel the difference when you go to manually collapse them if that is indeed the problem. Jowilker is an old hand with his knockin 352 and probably is right but I would do the clearance testing on the valve train first.
