'37 Ford coupe. When he first saw it my Dad said that it was a good thing it had two pipes because there was no way you could get that much smoke out one pipe. While driving it at full speed (about 65), the tie rod dropped off , I went airborne and flew over a creek and landed nose first on the other side. I lost the Ford and three teeth.
First car was a 69 fordor Thunderbird. Sold it and bought a '79 Turbo Mustang. Wore that out, so I sold it and bought a '81 Fairmount Futura. Survived 5 accidents with that one, then traded it it for my '88 F-150. Still have that today. I also now have a '69 Fordor Thunderbird back in the garage. Sometimes, I wish that mustang was back, but you never see them anymore.
My first was a 1968 F100 short box step side with wooden bed add on ac mounted under the dash. 390 4 speed granny trans. My dad bought it new in 1968 and drove it till 1985 when it sat off to the side for a while when i got my license he gave it to me. I pulled the motor had it bored 60 over dome top pistons with a huge Crane cam ditched the 2 barrel intake for a edlebrock and a holley 750 stock exhaust was next to go replaced by headers 2 1/2 inch pipes dual glass packs and 22 inch long 4 inch diameter chrome tips straight out the back. replaced wood in the bed with new oak, dad had a sheet of 3/4 plywood in it. drove it for 2 1/2 years and got a 64 ford f100 as a daily driver and a 1966 charger as ahot rod project car. gave the 68 F100 truck to my little brother who put a stereo system in it took the mud tires off the back and put 50 series low profile tires and a C6 i think with a 3000 rpm stall converter and a shift kit. he drove it for about 6 months till he hot rodded it out of the high school parking lot one day and hit his friends eldorado broad side at about 70 MPH and totaled the truck. Was the best thing that could have happened to the eldorado, but was saddening and heartbreaking to see the old F100 go on to be a parts truck. I had allot of good memories in that truck whether it was going fishing with dad or laying in the floorboard sleeping on the way to grandmas house. Im in the search for another one of those to put in my garage and restore it to origional condition.
Just a little 2 seater that my dad thought would keep me out of trouble since I couldn't fill it with 6 kids and joy ride. He was right about the joyriding, but wrong about the trouble (nothing serious, just kid stuff).
Drove it to school for my whole junior and 1/2 of senior year.
January of senior year, the rods were slick with snow and ice. I was taking it real easy, but the lady coming around the sharp bend towards me wasn't and slid into me with her sedan. I almost got our of her way, but she creamed my left rear side. I pounded it back together enough for it to get around town, but it never was the same so I just sold it and bought a VW rabbit. Had fun in that little thing too!
well my family has had 7 escorts since i was born and i got number 4 for my first vehicle. It was a red 93 four door with a 5 speed. My next car was escort number 6 and it was a 98 blue ZX2 with a 5 speed. Now i've grown out of escorts and into my SHO. You can't beat the gas mileage those things got though!
