I don't think you can swap lenses.........maybe a hot knife to try and separate it, but then where would you buy just the lens? If you're trying to remove the taillight assembly, open the liiftgate to expose 2 screws.
Hey Steve, I noticed you haul a boat with your 4.6, have you had any problems ? I plan on buying an 18' Conroy I/O in Havasu and towing it home to Big Bear City CA with my Explorer 4.6 4x4. Also, what would be the heaviest travel trailer you would attempt to pull with that rig ?
We used to live in Victorville and towed our 17' I/O to Lake Havasu or Lake Mohave; never had any problems but my rig weighs only 3120#. Now we're 8 minutes from Windsor Beach launch ramp so I REALLY don't miss those long tows. The Conroy would probably be OK, unless you're gonna load up with lots of people and gear.
I've never owned or towed a TT so can't comment on weight, but I do know they tow a lot different than a boat because of the increased frontal area.
My Owner's Guide shows 7000# as max trailer weight for an '04 with the 4.6, 4X4 and towing package; that weight is figured with no options, 150# driver and 1/2 tank of gas. Do you know if the trailer for that Conroy has surge or electric brakes?
