I see a lot said about small block maf conversion. ive got a 460, it has different intake tubing to air filter box so not many junkyard parts to make it work. Dunne-rite has a kit on line around $750. My oem ecm has a rev limiter programmed in it. does anyone have info on what ecm s don't. or if 96 or newer ecm can be used. thanks rick
It's already difficult enough to swap an EEC-IV MAF system for many people, pulling off an OBD-II (EEC-V) is even more involved.
I'm pretty sure all trucks of this vintage have very conservative speed and RPM limiters. The key is using a PCM that is supported by aftermarket tuners.
All Ford EFI systems have a rev limiter. The 460's are set very low stock, less than 5,000 RPM I believe.
There are no factory EEC-IV 460 MAF systems as far as I know. Most people adapt setups from the 302 or 351, but they require tuning.
There is an EEC-V 460 MAF system, but it requires a complete harness swap from the donor truck, and also requires a crankshaft position sensor that the EEV-IV systems didn't have. The crank position sensor requires the front cover, sensor and trigger wheel from a MAF 460 truck.

A 5000rpm limiter is just fine. Won't hurt your performance in any way. A WAY1 or VEX1 ecm is for trucks and Broncos with a 302. Same firing order and they are already set up for an E4OD tranny so if you have an auto with overdrive you'd be all good. Minimal tuning.
depending on your trans this may work.
its what i plan on when i do my rebuild
I emailed Fiveology to see if they have any applications for an E4OD or if they have suggestions. This is something I really want to do but IST wants too much scratch for it.
