My 96 Exlporer Sport 4x4 ABS has been pulsing during stops at 2 to 3 mph. I can't take credit for the fix i read it on this forum but it works.
Remove the wheel, brakes & calipers, rotor and shield. Then you will see the ABS sensor . Remove it clean it and scrape all the rust off of the mounting surface. I stuffed a small rag into the hole so not to get crud into the wheel bearing. I also used a small grinder to remove rust build up. Put a little grease on the sensor and replace it. also check the brakes , rotor and ball joint while you are down there. Both sides take less than 1 hour to do. No problems after that. I also did the same for the ABS speed sensor in the rear diff.
