I installed the adjustable 18k mod a while back and kept throwing codes (no code reader however) i also read its hard on the newer trucks (i have an '02) but man is the difference noticeable!!!!! I messed with it today and absolutely launched onto the freeway, then instantly threw a code. What am I doing am i killing the truck? Do i need to buy a code reader?
I would check the codes and see what you have. The codes may not be showing any thing necessarily bad, but only side effects of the increase in high pressure oil pressure to the injectors. You will most likely see a code related to the pressure being out of range or not controllable.
Do I have to have the light on? once i shut off the truck the next time I put on the key the light is gone, I guess i'm resetting. Cant leave my truck on in the parkinglot of autozone, live in a bad neighborhood. Does any of our sponsors have cheap codereaders?

Once the light is tripped the code is stored and can be read with the proper code reader regardless if the light is still on or not.
Is this added pressure bad for an '02?
Pull the codes and see what they tell you. Other wise it is just guessing. Check them and post what you find. Someone here will let you know.
Good luck.
what 18k mod did you put in? mine hasnt thrown a code yet. my guess is that the computer is seeing too much oil pressure. i dont think that is bad for the truck. but you are right, there is a noticable difference in power and black smoke
is it a good idea to get the 18 k mod if you are going to go with a Jody chip?
i dont know about with jodys chip but it works great with my hypermax 90hp chip. you might want to call him to see what he says and maybe he will tune it a little different
How dose the 18k or the 10k mod work with a chip? Are there going to be any differences?
i definately noticed a difference in my truck. what the 10k mod does is fool the computer to think that you hpop is not putting out enough oil for the injectors and cranks up the pressure. that makes your injectors fire harder and that injects more fuel. more fuel=more power
i would say more power down low because at full throttle your oil pump is working as hard as it can no matter what the computer tells it. there is no more injector clatter but i have an adjustable one that i leave turned way down most of th time until i pull up to a ricer or want to smoke out someone behind me. its still a little more power than stock but not much until i turn it up. yes with it turned up the egts will rise just like a chip when you move to the high setting
