6.0 Intercooler

just wanted to check before i jump....I get a 6.0 intercooler, a tube kit and install it as jt described and i get a 75-100 degree egt drop?

has anyone done it on a 2002 4x4?

that sounds fantastic....any help would be appreciated.

Is there an actual kit for this conversion?

Yes there are. Check the sponsor list...Several of them have "boot and tube" kits, and a couple of them have everything including the cooler.

Is this a cost effective way to replace the intercooler or would it make more sense to spend more money and get an aftermarket intercooler. How much benifit does an after market give you if any? Thanks

The high end coolers are better than the 6.0 coolers, but they start around $1200 and go up from there. You can pick up a 6.0 cooler for scarcely more than $100 if you are patient and make a noticable improvement over a stock 7.3 cooler.

I noticed an EGT temp drop like stated in the first post of about 75-100 degress when I went to the 6.0 cooler. However, I've noticed another big EGT temp drop with the switch from the 6.0 cooler to my new Spearco intercooler, along the lines of 100-150 degrees. It was considerably more expensive ($1350) than the 6.0 cooler, but the drop in EGT's is pretty big. Plus, I notice the turbo spooling faster with the Spearco, which I didn't notice with the 6.0 cooler. So, the 6.0 cooler is an improvement over stock, but not as big of an improvement as a good aftermarket intercooler is.

Silly question, is there anything in the intercooler like fluid or something?

Not in these trucks. There's nothing but air in them.
